Asia-Pacific Pole Dance Championships - 2010

August 27-28th - The Asia-Pacific Pole Dance Championships were held in Brisbane. To sum up the event in one word...AMAZING! This country (and our Asia-Pacific neighbours) have SO much great pole talent.

Eighteen Finalists competed for the prestigious titles of Asia-Pacific Champion, representing Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Thailand. The audience were also entertained by other amazing performers of Indigenous Pole, Chinese Pole and of course the fabulous Pole Monkeys.

Our very own Bailey competed in the Women's Classic Pole division and was well rewarded for her hard work and training, taking out 2nd place.

Congratulations to EVERYONE involved in this event - the competetitors (your talent and skill made it a night to remember) and of course the organisers who pulled off another slick and professional event!

About Pol-arise Dance Fitness...

Pole dancing in Australia has seen enormous growth over the past decade. Today, both males and females have recognised the exercise benefits of pole dance, and the gymnastic challenge it offers and keeps them hooked. It’s not really possible to say that all the forms of pole dancing are the same....it’s like saying all forms of football are the same.

Today, there are four main ‘styles’ of pole dance:

* Pole Fitness – no high heels, no costumes & more like a circuit gym class.
* Circus based Pole – highly acrobatic, as seen in Cirque du Soleil & in acrobatic circuts eg Chinese pole & Indian pole (Mallakhamb).
* Dance based Pole – acrobatic pole moves combined with more conventional dance moves such as latin, jazz, hip-hop etc.
* Sensual/Exotic pole – using more of the ‘traditional’ pole moves & generally involves girls dressed in a provocative way.

Pol-arise Dance Fitness is a mix of all these - dance, fitness and acrobatic pole - with just a hint of the cheeky stuff thrown in from time-to-time. Our classes are designed for adult women of all ages, shapes and sizes.

Pol-arise Dance Fitness improves fitness levels, core strength and muscle tone by combining the fun of dance, and the skills of gymnastics and acrobatics into one sport... that’s the NEW world of Pole Dance!

Don’t worry, you DON’T need to be fit, you DON’T need to be strong, you DON’T need to be skinny and you definitely DON’T need to be a dancer! You WILL need a “have a go” attitude and you WILL want some fun in your exercise routine! At Pol-arise, body shapes and sizes are varied - and age, size and fitness ability is no barrier ! Our classes are fun and held in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment where you can have a fantastic time, meet new people and laugh your way to a fitter, stronger and sexier body.
